IT Help Wise is an early beta troubleshooting service. This page explains how the product handles information. Please avoid entering passwords, security codes, financial details, or information you do not have permission to share.
Information you provide
We process your problem descriptions, follow-up answers, selected categories, step outcomes, language preference, and any feedback you choose to submit. In AI mode, troubleshooting text and relevant context are sent to OpenAI to generate guidance. Mock mode does not make AI requests.
Accounts and saved sessions
Supabase provides account authentication and our application database. Signing up uses your email address and password. Signed-in troubleshooting text, answers, generated steps, outcomes, and feedback are saved with your account. Authorized help-desk administrators can access permitted session information to support the service and review its performance.
Guest troubleshooting runs without a saved account history. Guest session state is held temporarily in the app and is cleared when you exit or refresh. This does not mean that requests sent to service providers have no retention.
Photos and screenshots
Photos are optional. The app prepares a local preview and validates and processes uploaded images in server memory. In AI mode, the image is sent to OpenAI with your troubleshooting context for each new suggestion that uses it. Crop or redact private details before attaching a photo.
IT Help Wise does not persist the image file, filename, or preview as a saved troubleshooting attachment. Refreshing removes the active image. Replacing an image restarts the troubleshooting steps; for signed-in users, this creates a new session and keeps the earlier text history. Removing an image stops future requests from using it, but cannot undo requests already sent. Generated text describing an image may be retained within a signed-in session.
Voice
Dictation is optional and uses your browser’s speech-recognition capability, with microphone permission. Your browser or its speech provider may process audio according to its own settings and policies. Recognized words appear in an editable text field and, when submitted, are handled as troubleshooting text.
Read-aloud can send guidance text to ElevenLabs to generate audio, with browser speech as a fallback. The application does not save voice recordings as session attachments. The service providers involved may have their own retention practices.
Analytics and session replay
If you choose “Allow analytics,” PostHog provides product analytics, web analytics, and session replay to help us understand navigation, feature usage, and troubleshooting outcomes. Events may include language, guest or signed-in status, step number, whether a photo or voice feature was used, and structured outcomes. Authenticated activity can be associated with your stable Supabase user ID; we do not send your email address as an analytics identity or profile property. Analytics identity is reset when you sign out.
Session replay reconstructs the page layout and interactions. Our configuration masks text and input values and blocks uploaded images, authentication forms, and saved-session lists. It disables automatic DOM event capture, console/error capture, and network body capture. Custom events exclude raw problem descriptions, answers, AI responses, transcripts, images, and email addresses. Analytics URLs have query strings and fragments removed and session identifiers replaced with a generic route.
Optional analytics and session replay stay off until you opt in. Choose “No thanks” to keep both off. You can use “Privacy Choices” in the home or legal-page footer to change your decision later. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics capture and replay; it does not undo data already sent. The app stores your choice in this browser. If browser storage is unavailable, the choice applies only to the current visit.
Cookies and browser storage
The app uses cookies for authentication and language preferences. After you opt in, PostHog uses browser storage and cookies for analytics identifiers and session continuity. Browser settings or blocking tools can restrict analytics; restricting authentication cookies may prevent sign-in from working. You can choose guest use and avoid optional photo and voice features.
Why information is used and who processes it
Information is used to provide troubleshooting, authenticate accounts, save requested history, produce optional audio, operate and secure the service, and understand usage. Infrastructure and service providers include Vercel, Supabase, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and PostHog as applicable to the features you use. Hosting services may process routine request and security information. Providers may process information in different countries under their own service terms and applicable arrangements.
Security and retention
The application uses access controls for saved sessions and validates uploaded images. No system can guarantee complete security. There is currently no automatic time-based deletion schedule implemented for saved troubleshooting history. Provider logs, backups, AI processing, and analytics have separate retention settings and policies; this page does not promise immediate deletion or a fixed retention period.
Your choices and requests
You can avoid optional inputs, sign out, manage browser storage, and contact support@ithelpwise.com with questions or requests concerning access, correction, or deletion. Rights and available responses depend on applicable law and the information involved. The beta does not currently provide a self-service account or history deletion screen.
